The Jenquai Defender (JD) has the lightest defenses of the Warrior-class pilots, but are the only one capable of cloaking, and able to deal massive amounts of damage in the blink of an eye. They are the Muhammad "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" Ali of the Earth & Beyond universe. Their Psionic Shield skill, which confers invulnerability for a limited amount of time and/or damage, is an absolute must-have for all JDs, as it helps cover the defensive weakness that JDs have, in that level 8 is the maximum shield skill level they can reach. Combat with a JD will revolve around cloaking (once you have Combat Cloak, i.e. cloaking skill level 5), getting behind your target (so they have to turn to shoot at you), and cloaking again as soon as you have fired to prevent or limit the time you take damage while your guns cycle.

For this reason, most JDs, once they have Combat Cloak, prefer high-damage long-recharge weapons, like plamsa-damage beams (most energy/EMP damage beams have <4 second recharge-times, whereas plasmas have around an 8 second recharge-time). A 3.1 second recharge is the absolute fastest reload a JD would want, as it can never take less than 3 seconds to engage Combat Cloak due to hard-coded server-side values. If a weapon discharges before cloaking is complete, cloak is interrupted, and the double damage bonus from Combat Cloak is not applied.

JDs can be tied, albeit briefly, with Jenquai Explorers for scan range. Through use of the Telescopium line of devices, JDs have been known to be able to see 30KM or farther for a few seconds.

Advantages

  • Has the lowest ship signature of all the Warrior classes.
  • The only class to start with positive faction-standing with the Red Dragon pirates (allowing access to sectors in Smuggler's Run system).

Getting Started

Jenquai Defender characters can be started via the Starship and Character Creator program or, more easily, through the regular game menus. Ship and character modifications can be made later at certain stations (particularly in home sectors) with special terminals in the Docking Bay area.

Description This ability drains a portion of an enemy's or group of enemies' energy. At higher levels, this skill transfers some of that drained energy to the player's or a player group's energy banks.

Level 1   Drains energy from an enemy target.
Level 2   Improves amount of drain on a single target and extends range to 1250 units.

Level 4 Requires combat level 15 Improves amount of drain and extends range to 1750 units.
