Professions (Race/Class Combinations)
Explorer Tradesman Warrior
Jenquai Jenquai Explorer (JE) Jenquai Seeker (JS) Jenquai Defender (JD)
Progen Progen Sentinel (PS) Progen Privateer (PP) Progen Warrior (PW)
Terran Terran Scout (TS) Terran Tradesman (TT) Terran Enforcer (TE)

The Terran Scout (TS) is an Explorer-class pilot within Earth & Beyond and undisputed king of gravity wells and shears thanks to its unique Nullfactor Field and Afterburn abilities. It is in a close race with the Jenquai Explorer for title of 'best explorer', and distinctly in front of the Progen Sentinel for exploration ability. The lack of level 9 reactor technology, combined with power-hungry missiles as the primary damage source, will put a damper on the capabilities of the TS, but the extraordinary sub-warp speeds that Afterburn allows often make the TS a desirable group member in combat, for helping keep the group at range on enemy formations, outside of the range where they would take damage, but inside the range where their guns can still inflict damage on the enemy. This tactic is known as kiting.

The Terran Scout was originally planned, but never implemented when Earth & Beyond originally went Sunset Live in 2002. Users of the Earth & Beyond Emulator may now experience and enjoy playing this profession!

Advantages

  • Negotiate up to level 5.
  • Navigate up to level 7.
  • Can use L9 Devices
  • Can use Level 9 Engines (to help realise the full awesomeness of the TS's speed capability, the L9 Ursa NGC 9 engine is highly recommended).
  • The Nullfactor Field skill converts damage to reactor energy and at its highest "Singularity Generator" level also grants full immunity to gravity wells, allowing you (and any group members) to warp through them.
  • Large cargo hold, with up to 37 spaces.
  • The ability to achieve the highest warp and thrust speeds of any class in the game (with max gear 8,954 warp).
  • The combination of Jumpstart and Hull-Patch skills means a single TS can provide the repair services which normally require an Explorer plus a Terran Trader.
  • Gives the Combat Speed Group Bonus
Terran Scout Character Creation

Disadvantages

  • Can only use up to Level 8 shields.
  • Can only use up to Level 8 reactors.
  • Only has 4 weapon slots.
  • No Critical Targeting skill.

Getting Started

Terran Scouts can be started similarly to the original six classes, although they do not have a button at the top of the screen. When creating a new character, use the < Choose Profession > buttons at the bottom of the screen to cycle through available classes. The new classes do not have Megan's introductory vocals.
