Terran Tradesman End-Game Gear Guide

This is the guide for equipping the ultimate Tradesman! The main role for a Terran Trader in group play is repairing hull and shields while the rest of their group ultimately do the killing. We'll cover the best equipment and some more reasonable replacements for those still reaching for the highest level.

Tradesman also have roles as builders, and as fast travellers (for trade runs, etc). That is also covered in this guide.

Weapons L9

Picking weapons to get the best damage for a TT is pretty straightforward. For the most damage get one ML off the turbo list(higher the better), and three missile launchers from the Generic DPS list. Do note though the hard part for a TT is using a level 8 reactor with 4 level 9 MLs and not running out of juice! In a raid/group, the TT's role is more one of healing than of doing damage, but it would still be best to bring missiles that do damage of the types needed for the encounter.

Turbo Missile Launchers

  • Black Caster, 40% Turbo, ~176 DPS, Plasma/EMP/Explosive/Chemical, 3.53 Missile Accuracy Levels
  • Smiter's Wrath, 40% Turbo, ~174 DPS, Plasma/Explosive/Chemical, 40% Missile Energy Conservation
  • Smiter's Fury, 40% Turbo, ~112 DPS, Plasma/EMP/Explosive/Chemical, 40% Missile Energy Conservation ; not tradable, often left floating in space at the tada-o gate by raid groups who don't need it.
  • ML-X11 "Bolas" Mk. IX, 40% Turbo, ~100 DPS, Plasma/Explosive/Chemical, 40% Missile Energy Conservation, 3.4 Missile Accuracy Levels; tradable
  • Dragon's Spite ; 33% Turbo, level 8 ; Buildable and tradable; A entry-level Turbo ML new Tradesman can get when just starting out at the End-game.

DPS Missile Launchers

These are generic DPS missiles you get just for doing damage. Some of them have unique properties or buffs you would use them for:

  • L9 Dung Flinger +1340 reactor cap, +4.39 ML Handling, Reactor Renewal, Shield Renewal, Debuff Plasma
  • L9 Dung Cannon ML Range, Increase Speed, Shield Renewal; Tradeable and buildable
  • L9 No. 1 Most Prize ML Type Zet; Buildable and tradeable, ammo can be bought from vendors ; Good starting DPS ML many tradesman use when first reaching level 150. Has EMP as an available ammo type, so often saved for situational EMP fights like the Ghost of Blackbeard Raid.
  • L9 Ten-Gu Bile Launcher ; These are tradeable and buildable, and the ammunition from them is made from components that drop in the Tengu raids. They are a favorite for Terrans in guilds that do a lot of raiding.
  • L9 Hellbore 46.40 DPS, Weaken Plasma(activated) -43.0, Enhance Missiles +30%, Boost Missile Range +38%, Improved Missile Handling +3.5k Skill levels; Tradable ; Weak DPS, uses vendor ammunition only. Slow firing, hilarious to watch. Nice for the long-range plasma debuff.
  • L9 Ya Zi Long's Hellbore 66dps, Weaken Plasma -43.7, Recharge Reactor +7.3 ; non-tradable ; Take hellbores for the buffs/debuffs, cool effects, and easily obtained ammunition. Their DPS is horrible, but tradesmen aren't along for their DPS contribution.

Healing Missile Launchers

Shields L9

  • Revenge of the Fallen IX 120,131 Capacity, Shunt Shields(instant) ; This is 'the other skull shield', a turn-in of a very rare drop from the GoBB raid. The 'shunt shields' works like a Martyr's heart, on a different cooldown than that device. One of the best TT shields available.
  • Black Force IX @ Ghost of Blackbeard Raid (121,800 Cap, 5% Turbo, Increases Accuracy by 3.9 Missile Skill levels, +5k Shield Cap)
  • Invincible Bastion @ Fishbowl Raid (120,131 Cap, 150% Hull Damage Control, Swap on for 5% Turbo); The hull damage control makes this a must-have for Tradesmen in challenging raids.
  • Prototype SU 9 (122,991 Cap) A high capacity shield with no buffs ; Easily obtained on market from Explorers who prospect it from Hulks.
  • No 1 Most Amazing Shield Model Z 100,684 capacity, 573 recharge, Equipment Engineering(activated), Boost Missile Range +40%; An easy-to-get crafted shield. Likely your first level 9 shield, to be upgraded once raiding.

Reactors L8

Since Terran's can only use L8 reactors here are the best:

Name Capacity Recharge Buffs
Black Power VIII 4389 53.8 5% Turbo Weapons
Increases PL Accuracy by 3.5
+4180 Shield Capacity when equipped.
Tradable
Ghost of Blackbeard Raid
Tang's Vigor 3807 57.78 +700 Reactor Cap, +4.6% Reactor Recharge
Tradable and buildable
Shooting Star VIII 4393 60.21 Enhance Missiles 26.6%%
Recharge Reactor -BOOST! +56.79 for 20 seconds
Tradable and buildable
Unicorn II Stallion 3661 51.60 you don't use it in combat.
Turbo warp +750 for 2128 seconds
Reduces equipment install time by 80% when equipped.
Tradable and buildable
RE-X9 "Supernova" Mk. VIII 3221 59.27 Increases ship top speed by 142% for 10 seconds when activated
Increases Missile Range by 44% when equipped.
Tradable and buildable
Ambush Beta 3366 60.75 30% Projectile Energy Conservation
Reduces Device Energy Cost by 15.0% when equipped.
Reduces equipment install time by 20% when equipped.
+10.00% Reactor Recharge for 259 seconds to target when activated.
Tradable and buildable, by Progen Privateers that have completed Stage II Agrippa
Power of the Ten-Gu 4319 42.8 +723 Reactor Capacity
Reroute Shield Energy(Instant, 42% of shield to 24% of reactor, 8 second cooldown)
The stats don't look good at first glance, but the final capacity is really high, and the reroute-shield-energy can be used 5x as often as martyr's heart, for huge amount of energy -- at the cost of a lot of extra self shield-recharging. The reactor capacity boost stacks with AWACS and Dung Flinger, and the reroute amount is based on the final buffed reactor capacity.
unique, tradable, not buildable
Obsolete Power Core 3850 62.80 Improves Hull Patch effectiveness by 2.30 Skill Levels when equipped.
Increase Missile Energy Cost by 10.00% when equipped.
tradable not buildable

Engines L9

Note if not using a Terran Advantage III you'll probably want to have a Dung Cannon, or either a Model Z Shield or Supernova Reactor to keep up your range extended..

Devices L8

Combat Devices

When its time to keep other classes alive or just kill things solo.

Turbo Devices

Damage Devices

  • Intolerance Mk. VIII (39.9% Damage)
  • Advanced Weapon Control System (4% Missile Force, Increase Reactor Capacity +1232); The extra reactor and missile force buff makes this a great device to bring into battle.
  • Good Fortune (25% Critical Rate)
  • Benevolence (40% Missile Energy Conservation) ; Tradeable device from the Celestial Warder, only Use if you dont have a missile energy conservation missile launcher equipped.

Swapped/Buff Devices

These are devices which you can keep in your cargo and swap in to buff, then replace with another device so they don't consume a device slot.

Debuff Devices

There are a few debuffs only tradesman can do, and these can be critical in certain raids and group encounters.

  • Manticore's Dire Anguish Deflect Chemical(equip), Weaken Energy(activated) -42 ; This buildable/tradable device is important to weaken energy in encounters where a Jenquai Seeker with Manticore 9's is not available.
  • DV-PSI-X3 "Profiler" Mk. VIII Recharge Shields Skill, Weaken Psionic(activated) ; This dual-purpose device improves shield recharging, and weakens psionic on enemies. Weaken psionic helps other abilities land hits on enemies, so other group/raid members debuffs, hacks, etc, will work better. This is amazing.
  • Decay of the Vindis Weaken Psionic- BOOST(activated) ; Further debuff psionic on enemies, stacks with the Profiler.

Defensive Devices

Resist Devices

  • Damage resists (pick one to resist whatever combo the mob is firing at you) or a Martyr's Heart
Device Source Chemical EMP Explosive Energy Impact Plasma Psionic Additional buffs
L8 Good Fortune Mission reward 0 0 +30 +30 0 +30 +30 +25% Critical Rate
L7 Ivory Ward Player made (200%) +40 +40 +0 +40 +40 +40 0
L8 Tolerance Mk. VIII Player made (200%) 0 0 +40 +40 +40 0 +40

Utility Devices

  • DV-EN-X3 "GreaseMonkey" Mk. VIII Equipment Engineering(equip and activated); This beauty, when equipped and self buffed, allows instant gear swapping. Also use to buff your group members at start of raids as they will be doing a lot of gear swapping and this is a huge help for them.

Travel Devices

For when you want to get around in a hurry.

Build Devices

Some Tradesmen pride themselves as the best Builders in the game. There are few devices they can get that will help:

For more information on constructing items, consult Manufacturing.

Alternate Gear

Weapons

The most important buff you need is the 40% Turbo Missiles which comes easiest from having a player build a level 8 Dragon's Spite but it can also be extremely easy to find a Smiter's Fury from a Tada-O Gate Raid, as guilds doing that raid often just float the ML in Cooper near the Tada-O Gate if they cannot find someone to give it to during the raid.

Plasma debuffs are given by Ya Zi Long's Hellbore -43.7 Plasma Deflect, and Hellbore -43.0 Plasma Deflect a but also two devices which give -45 Plasma Deflect the Pulsing Bullywere Eye and Chang Lung's Pride. The Dung Flinger ML also does a -31 Plasma Deflect.

One other option others often take is to replace Zet's with Ten-Gu Bile Launchers as their ammo is easier to manage though they do slightly less DPS.
