Hulks are the wrecks of ships floating in space and they are one of the 6 different types of prospecting nodes. Each one has a particular technology level, rated from 1 to 9. Explorer-class pilots (JE, TS, PS) are able to probe for and mine items from this flotsam, according to their Prospect skill level. (Note that if your Prospect skill level is lower than the tech-level of the hulk, mining may be difficult to impossible).
Hulks are renowned for being the only source for certain types of items. Notable amongst these are:
- the DigiApogee Company's non-manufacturable Prototype weapons and ship equipment
- Debris, a common component needed in the construction of many items of Bogeril-technology
- Spacesuits, which may be redeemed by race-relevant factions for trade experience and faction points
Hulks are usually associated with prospecting fields; they are probably the wreckage of unlucky prospecting ships.
Per the observations of various pilots, hulks appear to re-spawn after about 45 minutes to an hour. Please be sure to always loot the entire contents of a Hulk, otherwise it will not re-spawn.

Visual Identification
Note that the contents of hulks are generally available from the level shown in the table below and the level above it so what is shown here is just the lowest level hulk which can contain the item (with the exception of Debris and Wreckage Slag which are available from all hulks).
