They are shown as "Gas Cloud" in-game, but are shortened to Gas across the wiki.
They generally contain resources of type Gas.

^*Gases are second only to Crystals in terms of difficulty to identify Pop "rocks". As highly translucent particles they only become richer/darker in color and more opaque, just like Crystals and L9 nodes of all types.
