Overview
With access to both Freya and Jotunheim sectors, Ragnarok provides a variety of hunting and mining for pilots of an entrepreneurial spirit. In the southern reaches of the sector, ships of moderate level are to be found, while at the northern and eastern extremities there are to be found quarry of a more challenging nature. The venerable Traders' Fort station is on hand to facilitate the exchange of your loot, or process your minerals. Lower level pilots should take note not to park outside the station, as they will be nipped at by a persistent CL5 ship.
The Dolor Chasm navs 1, 2 and 3 lead to progrssively more dangerous territory inhabited by the Chavez Pirates. The Chavez Capital Ship is their stronghold, which you may dock at only with a sufficient level of Chavez faction standing (this level has been variously reported as -1599, +1621, and +2001, and needs verification, as at May 2022). You may sometimes encounter Miguel Chavez - The Nagato Maru, the leader of the Chavez pirates, who drops a range of interesting L4 to L6 weaponry. As he and his wingmen are some of the highest-level Chavez you will find they provide slightly higher than normal faction gains with the The Red Dragon, but due to the long respawn and difficulty in locating them there are much easier targets for that. Miguel and his buddies could previously be found outside the Chavez Capital Ship on a regular basis, but lately they have been seen hanging out at Ragnarok's Terminal (see below).
Even more hazardous is the north-east Ragnarok's Terminal navpoint. Here you will find the CL60 ship Zenorsh with a swarm of CL48 and CL54 wingmen. They are extremely aggressive, and will hit you immediately with a powerful cocktail of EMP (shield-stripping), Energy, and Explosive damage. Miguel has also recently been seen skulking about here.
The sector has a number of mid-to-high level asteroid fields, also some clusters of lower-level mobs, particularly around Farthen Camp (CL11-13 Rogues) and Herlinsson Camp (CL11-13 Rogues; look out for CL15 named mob Buddy Herlinsson if you are low-level). Rogue ships are numerous, aggressive, and will not hesitate to swarm you, no matter what your level. Rasmussen Camp is quieter, with a small number of passive Einherjar ships (CL33, 40, & 43) cruising in the vicinity. They shouldn't attack you unless you fire on them. There is a small asteroid & gas field nearby.

Mining notes
Field Location | Prospecting Node | Levels | Guardians | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
99, 100 (Infinity-Orsini Ragnarok Scoop) | Rock, Hydrocarbon, Crystal | 6-8 | CL60 Zenorsh and lower level passive guardians. Mixed field. | |
Ragnarok's Path | Gas | 5-7 | CL27-33 Zenshai | |
Calamity's Downfall | Rock, Hydrocarbon, Glowing, Crystal | 6-8 | CL36 Ostarae Sporemother & CL27 Zenshai Chemical Drowser | Mostly 6-8 with a few 8s. Mobs respawn too fast for this field to be minable reasonably. There are two fields here. Crystal and Glowing are in separate fields. Unclear which fields Rock and Hydrocarbon are in. Mixed field. |
4,113 (25k NE of Dolor's Bluff) | Rock, Hydrocarbon, Crystal, Gas | 6-7 | Passive guards. CL36-45 Thorvald/Thordis | Mixed field. |
Dolor Chasm 1 | Rock, Hydrocarbon, Crystal, Glowing | 6-8 | CL43 Vindis Drone Generation 2 | This is 2 fields. Crystal and Rock in are in separate fields, unclear how the other 2 types map. Mixed field. |
-52,78 (~40k NE of Nav Ragnarok 5) | Rock, Crystal | 6-8 | CL 35, 42, and 44 Manes, CL36 Soul Thief | Mostly lvl 7 rocks. Mixed field. |
Nav Ragnarok 5 | Crystal, Glowing, Gas | 5-6 | Passive guards, CL40 Einherjar Skulk | There are two separate fields close together. One is 5-6 (this field) the other is 7-8. They touch/have clouds inside each other. This is a mixed field. |
Nav Ragnarok 5 | Hydrocarbon, Glowing, Gas | 7-8 | Passive guards, CL40 Einherjar Skulk | This is a mixed field. |
Nav Ragnarok 3 | Rock, Hydrocarbon, Glowing, Crystal | 6-8 | CL36 Ostarae and Mabonae Sporemothers | Mostly 7-8 with a couple 6s. Mixed field. |
4,-25 (9km south of Calamity) | Crystal, Glowing, Gas | 5-6 | Passive guards. CL27-47 Free Spacers | Mixed field. |
-18,13 (9KM NW of Calamity) | Rock, Hydrocarbon, Crystal | 7-9 | CL47 Recalescent Manes | Mixed field. |
Nav Ragnarok 2 | Rock, Crystal, Glowing | 5-7 | CL5-13 Chavez | Mixed field. |
62,-55 (~15k east of Trader's Fort) | Gas | 6-8 | None | Mostly 6-7, a few 8s. |
70,-70 (~20k SE of Trader's Fort) | Rock, Hydrocarbon | 6-7 | None | Mixed field. |
64,-97 (~34k SSE of Traders' Fort) | Rock, Hydrocarbon, Crystal, Glowing, Gas | 5-8 | CL36-45 Manes | Manes use Energy & EMP. This field is bad game design. It takes 55 slots to mine this out; meaning at least 2 TTs and 1 miner. And the Manes guarding it are not level appropriate; they should be CL40s at most. Their respawn and move speed are also entirely too high, as is their 10km scan range. This appears to be a mixed field. |
Mining data from Doctor (talk) 20:40, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
This data is, sadly, not clean. The last field 34k SSE of TF was respawning as I was mining it because it was so big and took so many inventory slots. I did the best I could. I did not bias myself on mining one type or level of asteroid over another, so the data should not be 'too' polluted.
