Danger -- V'Rix

From Net 7 Portal Wiki

This page catalogues the current locations of known high V'rix danger (as the storyline progresses, there will become more and more of these) and what you can do about them.

Primus and the Progen Hull Upgrade Missions

There are multiple hexagonal combat groups ("pods") of V'rix patrolling in Primus sector. CLs range up to at least 56. When one of these ships is attacked, all six will respond by counter-attacking the aggressor. Best strategy is to have a Group Cloak equipped JE lead your group. While the V'Rix are not patrolling nor attacking ships at the gates into Primus, one of the hexagonal sets of six V'Rix does sometimes patrol within attack range of the shipyard.

Second best strategy is to have your new Progen grouped by any 'toon that already has the shipyard nav and group warp with that other 'toon as leader. The patrolling pod of V'rix randomly may or may not be within aggro range of the shipyard when you arrive. If they aren't, get your upgrade and warp to gate IMMEDIATELY.

After your character has the shipyard nav bookmarked, you can "run the gauntlet" without a JE group leader ... and if, by chance, the V'rix are within attack range (not known) when you arrive -- you'll likely be dead. The JE's job is to warp the group -while cloaked- to the shipyard, and then maintain the cloak until it is known that the V'rix are not nearby (much of the time). Upgrading your hull will drop you out of the group — so you'd best not tarry there but initiate warp PDQ to the gate of your choice.

There is another pod of V'rix that patrols south of Nav Primus 5 in the asteroids there (east of Primus Planet). Otherwise, the light blue asteroid navs [light blue on this enbmaps.de chart] are free of V'rix.

V'rix-impacted areas

Primus Planet

Sadly, there is a pair of CL 56 V'rix randomly patrolling Primus Planet who see through cloak — even that of your high level JE. They do patrol the area near the accelerator off planet -- which is also where you enter the planet atmosphere. Unless your 'toon is V'rix friendly, with bad luck your JE will be dead shortly after entering the planet.

There are also multiple other, lesser V'Rix on the planet surface. They cannot see through cloaks and your JE-led group with Group Cloak will be able to sneak past.

When it is time to leave Primus Planet, try finding an area of few V'rix and then have your JE open a wormhole — this avoids the possibility of getting back to the accelerator only to find that the two killer V'rix are there at that moment.

R4c

This system has been flooded with V'Rix, however the entry gate area is free of them. Missions from before the V'Rix invasion still have their targets in the same locations. Your JE with Group Cloak will be fine leading your group here -- no V'Rix in R4c are known to see through cloak.

Endriago

As of the September 2018 patch, there is a combat hexagon or pod (six) of CL40 V'Rix patrolling just to the southwest of Arx Spartoi (the station). They act like other hexes of V'Rix ... attack one and all will counter-attack.

A single OL150 JE was insufficient to clear all six of these: they began to respawn before all six had been killed.

Important: Do NOT dock at the station by warping from the Lagarto Gate or the Genetic Repository. Suggest not even trying it from the Altair Gate -- always overshoot to the Vega Gate and then warp back to the station and dock up. By doing this, when you undock, you'll be on the SE side of the station instead of the SW side and, therefore, away from the V'Rix.

If for some reason you are stuck exiting to the SW, please ask in chat for a high level combat team to come and whack these V'Rix ... If there is only one left and it is fighting, you'll probably be able to undock safely and warp away, as long as you are prompt.

UPDATE 29 Oct 2018: a full pod of six CL56 V'rix Helkos was seen whacking players on the Endriago side of the gate from Primus. Frankly, looks like just plain bad luck as no one other than a CL50 'toon is likely to survive their first blast. Maybe still possible to enter Endriago safely via JE wormhole to the weft. Stay tuned to find out ...

UPDATE TWO -- 28 Jan 2019 -- a full pod (six) of CL 56 V'Rix Helkos was repeatedly seen patrolling the Spinward Belt of asteroid navs in Endriago.

UPDATE THREE -- 28 Jan 2019 -- a full pod of CL 50 V'Rix Helkos was discovered patrolling in the vicinity of Asteroid EG9721 and northward from there. This is in the northwest (upper left) Rogue Progen area "behind" the Endriago planet nav. The V'Rix and Rogue Progen are at war (with the Rogue Progen almost always losing).

Porvenir Mons Area

(23 Oct 2018) A pod (six) of CL 40 V'rix Scouts was seen at the point in Endriago sector where one appears after taking the Launchpad upward from Porvenir Mons Area to Endriago sector. Multiple prior uses of this accelerator did NOT encounter these V'rix, so the encounter may be random and rare. Concerned pilots can exit the planet via the ancient wormhole to Risco Moon and from there to Lagarto sector.

Other sectors

The V'rix patrols are escalating and will first scan you for the codex they are searching for and, after a slight delay, begin to attack. The standing required to prevent them from attacking is not known.

Countermeasures

V'rix warships (CL50s) in Primus sector have been observed to drop Deceptor devices (level 8), which allow you to resist the V'rix scanning your ship. There are three race-specific variants, each with a different additional buff:

Situation Summary

The story-line is that the V'Rix are going to become worse and worse -- pushing into more and more systems in Earth and Beyond. Over several years, you should expect that the V'Rix will invade Terran systems with their hexagonal fighting groups, followed by Jenquai systems. Timing is unknown. The rumored storyline is that a solution to the V'Rix problem will not become possible until after all three races' areas have been invaded by the V'Rix and the previously feuding races unite to counter attack the V'Rix. All details of how this may unfold are unknown, as are the details of what will have to be done by the players to finally counter the V'Rix. Best advice -- level up, gain as many skills and "toys" as possible, and cooperate with your fellow players.
