The Quartermaster is a large, CL66 ship, which plies its way slowly at impulse speed between ABB and Mercury gates in Venus sector, Sol system. Its route also passes right by Venera Highport station.
The unnamed pilot (the Quartermaster himself) is a vendor of a small but exclusive selection of weapons and ship equipment of the highest quality.
If you hail his ship it will stop, and the Quartermaster will offer to display his wares.
It is not known if the variety of his merchandise changes from time to time or respawns the same; however, he only has single items in stock: once you buy something, it disappears from his inventory (unlike vendors in space stations, who have replacement stock out the back).

Sample Inventory
Durng a visit to the Quartermaster's vessel in April 2018, the categories "Missiles", "Equipable", and "Beams" were available to peruse, and the following items were observed. Note that although two products had a quality of 198%, all other offerings were of the highest, 200% quality. The items show as though they were manufactured by player names such as "Palet" and "Boxcar".
- L3 Sculptor II IPS 3 (prospecting enhancement device)
- L3 Chimaera's Bite (weakens enemy's plasma resistance), 198% quality
- A variety of level 1, 3, and 4 beam weapons of Jenquai, Terran, and Progen make (one of these was the other 198% quality item)
- e.g. L3 Saturnus IC30 Energy Beam Weapon 200%, cost 4,327 credits
- L8 Red Dragonfly Missile Launcher 200%, cost 585,076 credits
- L9 No. 1 Most Prize ML Type Zet 200%, cost 1,263,743 credits
Items sold by The Quartermaster cannot be analyzed: builders needing to map the schematics of something will need a looted sample.
Caution
When The Quartermaster stops, after a little while a Dai Lo Red Dragon pirate vessel will appear and start attacking it. On both occasions, the player's ship was not attacked (even though RD Faction was negative, at level -998). The longer that The Quartermaster was stationary, the more Red Dragon activity was observed, with more RD ships arriving. The Red Dragon vessels seen were all in the combat-level range of 19 to 23 - a potential threat to a low-level customer.
