Mob Named Mob NPC

NPC

An NPC, or Non-Player Character, typically refers to a humanoid figure, similar to your own in-game avatar, but which is controlled by the game mechanics, not by a human operator. When you click on one, it will typically pop up a speech window to convey information. With some, you may be able to select certain responses below the speech window, which will determine the course of your conversation. Some types of NPC will issue skill-acquisition or general missions, and others will buy from, or sell items to you.

Most NPCs are to be found in stations, and can be identified by the name appearing above their heads being coloured yellow. All vendors in each station's market hall are NPCs. You may also find NPCs in various locations in space; some are mobile and require a little finding, and others based at a permanent location.

You will first encounter NPCs in your home starbase, as you begin your training as a new pilot. You should try talking to all the NPCs in your home sectors: (1) your class/profession-specific starting sector and (2) your race's home/capital space-station (in Earth, Jupiter, or Mars sectors)) in order to acquire all your potential skills. Note that some skill-acquisition missions do not unlock until you have established bona fides with a particular NPC by performing other, reward-only missions first (and not necessarily with that same NPC, so visit them all!).
