Discussion page of Category:Game Mechanics

What I would love to see added to this category is information about the game's UI and how the various thingies work. As someone whose experience with all this is almost 20 years old (and the UI here is notably different from current UI's), it would be very helpful. Not as helpful as many other things, but ... helpful. Like "Is there some way to map functions to other keys or buttons?" Hsien (talk) 18:36, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

A Category page is simply a page which lists OTHER pages. What you're looking for is a new page (or pages) which is (or are) tagged with the Game Mechanics category, so that they show up in the list here.
Note that the wiki runs on a volunteer basis: all players with a login can update it (be sure to search first, and check you are not going to be duplicating existing information, and also consult the Contribution Guidelines). If you don't know how to use wiki-code, or feel uncomfortable doing so, you can always suggest (as you've done), but bear in mind the number of wiki-contributors is fairly limited and might have other priorities or time limitations to manage. If you don't or can't DIY, then, to steal a line from the movie The King's Speech, "one can wait rather a long wait".
I'm a bit divided as to where to post a wiki suggestion. On the one hand, putting it into a Talk page like this means it will probably only be read by wiki-editors if they accidentally happen upon it, like I did: while few in number, at least we're your target audience. On the other hand, posting a wiki suggestion in the ENB Forum will be more readily noticed, but only some of the readers will be wiki-enthusiasts.
I think your idea is a nice one, that'll offer some help to brand new pilots, or those returning for the first time after a couple of decades, and the info should be a sub-article that is reachable from the New Player Tutorial/Guide which is linked on the wiki's front page. However it will require a bunch of work to construct, probably with a collection of screenshots for clarity. I'll give it some thought. —Winlander (talk) 14:40, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
